Stories · Mikela

Rooftop client

Mikela lives in income based housing.  She is a single mom, having recently left an abusive relationship.  She has three children under the age of eight.  Mikela works a fast food job while her children are in school.  Two of the children got the flu in March.  Mikela had to miss 5 days of work.  The loss of hours made it impossible to pay April’s rent and utilities.  Rooftop assisted with rent and utilities during this crisis. **Note that unpaid rent or utilities in income based housing is cause for eviction.  A late fee is assessed when rent is 5 days late and an additional fee is added for each additional day.  This is why a quick response by both the client and Rooftop is important.
